My peer-reviewed article “America’s Intracoastal Waterway: Understanding the nation through narratives about infrastructure” has just been published in the very cool, water-focused journal Shima. I’m very pleased to be included in this journal, which I have long admired.
Since the journal is Open Access, I have included my article below. In it, I consider how America’s Intracoastal Waterway, which runs along the Eastern seaboard and Gulf of Mexico has been variously narrativised, including within a lineage of settler-colonialism, as an ecologically disruptive infrastructure project, and as a space for life-affirming encounters.
